Hello_HEJ_Bonjour
My work lives in the - mellanrum, l’entre—deux- the space between what is visible and hidden, spoken and unsaid.Stillness here is not emptiness, but a presence. I’m drawn to ordinary objects as quiet witnesses to connection, distance, and the systems- social, historical, personal- that shape how we relate to one another.
Colour and light carry much of this work. Shadow, reflection, and the fall of light across a surface at a point in time are as much the subject as any object or figure- a way of holding attention on what’s easy to look past.
Right now this is taking shape most directly in the ‘dinner series’, oil paintings built around meals as a site where ritual, personal histories, and quieter structures of class and history surface in small material details- who’s served, who’s not, what’s left on the plate…
Oil painting anchors the practice, its slow and tactile process mirroring the attention the work asks for. It extends into iPad drawing, printmaking, and process documentation- each offering a different way into the same questions.
